superman had foster parents

The animals need you!  Foster families allow Desert Paws to rescue. Foster families save lives. Fostering is such a rewarding experience, you can help a once unwanted dog or cat find that special furever family. Please be part of our family of families in temporarily caring for dogs and cats while we find permanent forever homes for them. We take care of the veterinary care with our vet, we can supply you with food and crate, litter, etc We have had remarkable transformations, all we need is more dedicated and experienced foster families. You can care for the pet in a safe loving environment just like you’re caring for your friend or family member’s pet.

The time period can be from a week – several months: we have pets of all ages, all sizes, some are special needs (recuperating from surgeries, litters, moms with litters, etc), most are ready to run around and have fun. So whether this is your first time fostering or you’re experienced – we’d love to have your help!

Please fill out the quick form, drop us a quick email and we’ll get right back to you!

Being a foster carer is very rewarding but you need to be 100% committed to caring for your foster dog or cat which includes:

  • exercising
  • socialization
  • feeding
  • toilet training
  • possibly taking to vet
  • caring & providing medication when unwell
  • providing training and/or possibly attending training classes
  • actively seeking a furever home for them, providing a detailed profile, photos and possibly attending adoption events

There is no such thing as a ‘perfect’ foster dog, sometimes foster dogs/cats are sick, have experienced trauma and are usually stressed/anxious from their ordeal, so it can take some time for a cat/dog to settle into a foster home. We can’t guarantee that a dog won’t bark, a cat won’t scratch, a dog won’t  dig or do their business in your house so if you’d like to become a foster family you need to be prepared for this. If you are not 100% committed then you can help us out in other ways, check out the Volunteer page.

If you’re thinking of fostering with the intention of adopting or think this is a way to get a dog/cat for free, save yourself the time of applying. We are after committed foster families who want to make a real difference to the lives of pueblo dogs for the months and years to come.

We cover all vet bills relating to the medical care of your foster dog, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, worming and flea/tick treatment. Using the profile and photos you provide, we promote online via almost 50 channels for your foster dog/cat’s new home. We also provide donations of food, toys, bedding and other items to help your foster dog feel right at home if you need them. You will be part of our fostering family support network, be part of a group to help you deal with issues and also gain some great experience on the way. Many of our foster families already have pets and we try our best to make a good match before placing them into your home.

If you have any other questions please email us or use the Contact Me form on this website.
